Tomasz Czerwinski replaces Darren Towler

Tomasz steps up to take on Neil, replacing the injured Darren Towler.

Big Tom said that he had been waiting for a phone call, from Dave, knowing that anything can go wrong when Heavyweights are training, ‘I am so excited to step up and take on the former UFC, Bellator and Cage Rage Star but this fight is no exception, Grove is getting knocked out just like any other opponent of mine’.

Czerwinski defended his CFC Belt last weekend in a rematch against Kevin Kamp winning by TKO due to Ground & Pound at just 44 seconds.  And we must not forget he is also Fury Heavyweight MMA Champion.

Tomasz told BritFights that he has a lot of respect for Neil Grove and thinks he is a true gentleman.  He also added that he appreciates the chance to make his dream come true.

Don’t miss this one guys, it is going to be war!

Darren Towler out of UCMMA

DARREN TOWLER OUT

With just 2 weeks to go before UCMMA 31, news broke out at UCMMA HQ this morning that the current UCMMA Heavyweight Champion, Darren ‘Power House’ Towler has had to pull out due to injury; Towler has ripped his shoulder muscle which could put him out of action until next year.

Darren said: “I am totally gutted to have drop out of such a big fight on a big stage, I love to fight on UCMMA and I was looking forward to defending my silverware and bring the win home from Christmas, I would like to apologize to Neil Grove and I hope we can get the fight on again in the new year, to all the people that bought tickets to come and watch me fight and of course, I want to apologize to Dave O’Donnell.”

But just as one man pulls out another man is ready in the background waiting silently for the phone call from the big man, Dave O’Donnell isn’t Santa Clause but he may as well be, Stepping up to take on Goliath Grove is CFC Heavyweight Champion, Thomasz Czerwinski.

Big Tom said that his been waiting for a phone call, from Dave, knowing that anything can go wrong when Heavyweights are training, ‘I am so excited to step and take on former UFC, Bellator and Cage Rage Star but this fight is no exception, Grove is getting knocked out just like any other opponent of mine’.

Czerwinski is coming off a huge KO over Kevin Kamp to become the CFC Champion and is now looking to add another belt to get his collection off to a flying start.

Towler Vs Grove was scheduled to be for the Heavyweight title but now the champion is out Neil Grove Vs Tomasz Czerwinski will be set for the Heavyweight Interim Title.

‘After calling many fighters only one Heavyweight champ said yes straight away, the Polish Monter Big Tom, the man will fight anyone anywhere, Christmas has come early for all MMA Fans because I can’t see this going out of the 1st round’ – Dave O’Donnell

BAMMA can now announce Alex Reid’s opponent for BAMMA  11 presented by GoDaddy.com, as Reid returns to the cage for a Middleweight Mixed Martial Arts bout on 1st December. The bout, which takes place at Birmingham’s National Indoor Arena, is set to feature on the televised main card and pits Alex against Sam Boo.

Alex Reid fights out of London Shootfighters with a record of 9 wins, 9 losses and 1 draw. With a twelve year Mixed Martial Arts career behind him, Reid has fought a catalogue of tough domestic and international opponents, including Tom Watson, Matt Ewin, Xavier Foupa-Pokam, Murilo Rua and Jorge Rivera. He also holds a kickboxing win over John Maguire.  Reid’s MMA victories have come via KO, TKO and submission, while the majority of his losses have come via decision.  ‘The Reidernator’ was propelled into the mainstream limelight by his highly publicised relationship with celebrity Katie Price in 2009 and the reality TV show, Big Brother, which he won in 2010. His distance fight against Tom Watson the same year at BAMMA 4 drew  a UK TV audience of 895,000 to make it the most viewed domestic MMA broadcast ever. Against a rising celebrity profile, it also earned Reid respect as a fighter with a huge heart in what is viewed by many as a legendary British bout.  Following a break from the cage, Alex Reid returns for BAMMA 11, presented by  GoDaddy.com, in a clash that sees him looking to work his way back up through the rankings.

Alex Reid said:

“It’s been a long time and I’m itching to get back to fight again at BAMMA. First and foremost I’m a fighter. It’s always been at the heart of what I do.  I’ve drifted over the last couple of years and my name has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. It’s set me back in the sport I love and now I want to get in the headlines for the right reasons: Mixed Martial Arts brings me focus in my life.  I’m going to prove myself to BAMMA fans, as I proved two years ago when I was up against Tom Watson in the hardest fight of my life, that I have what it takes”.

Hailing from Southampton, Sam Boo walks into the fight with a professional record of 5-7-0 and his preferred method of stopping his opponent is via Guillotine Choke.  Boo will be looking to make his name by challenging Reid in the biggest fight of his career at BAMMA 11, presented byGoDaddy.com.

Boo said:

“I’m properly excited to get the opportunity to smash Alex Reid. I may have only been fighting for a couple of years professionally but already I’ve had almost as many fights as Alex and I’m young and in peak physical condition. Alex on the other hand hasn’t had a proper fight in two years. He’s been spending more time larging it up as a celebrity than in the gym and he’s out of shape. The fact Alex takes the fight against me rather than a bigger name shows he’s not got it anymore – and I welcome the opportunity to beat him up, because if you look at my fitness and where Alex is right now, I believe I’ve got a good chance. He may have been tough in the past but now the guy’s a joke.  I’d love nothing more than to put him in his place on national TV. “

Two further changes are to take place to the preliminary fight card for BAMMA 11 presented by GoDaddy.com, as Anth Taylor and Dyson Roberts have had to withdraw from their Mixed Martial Arts bouts on 1st December at Birmingham’s NIA, due to injury.

Kevin Thompson will now replace Anth Taylor in a Light Heavyweight clash with undefeated Max Nunes, while Kyle Redfearn replaces Dyson Roberts and squares off against Marc Allen at Lightweight.

Kevin Thompson comes from Cumbria with a professional MMA record of 13-5-0.  Thompson has never yet gone the distance: Only two of his matches have made it past the first round and five of his victories have been achieved in less than a minute.  The majority of Thompson’s wins have been attained by TKO (punches) while other victories have come via Submission to Punches, TKO by corner stoppage and grappling submissions. Recent losses on Thompson’s record have been to Linton Vassell and Ricco Rodriguez. Thompson was pitted for BAMMA 10, presented by GoDaddy.com, against Tony Moran; but he was forced to withdraw due to injury and was replaced by undefeated Max Nunes whom he is now set to face. Nunes also has an impressive history of first round conquests.

Thompson said: “I’m very excited to be fighting on BAMMA and look forward to impressing on my debut on December 1st.”

Durham’s Kyle Redfearn fights out of Kirkmerrington MMA with a record of 5-4-0. Debuting in May 2012 Redfearn has stacked up 100% of his victories in the first round, with times that range between 21 seconds and 2 minutes 14 seconds.  Opponent  Marc Allen, with a record of 6-1, also likes to stop his opponent early and went to the third round for the very first time at BAMMA 10 (presented by GoDaddy.com) to attain a win by decision against Lee Taylor.

BAMMA’s Managing Director, Ashley Bothwell, said:

“We’re very pleased to have Kevin Thompson back on the BAMMA card. He’s a fierce talent who I’m sure will be a real hit with our fans. Nunes is dangerous challenge but Thompson has what it takes to make this a thrilling bout.  It’s always great to see new talent coming up and Kyle Redfern has shown himself to be an exciting and risky fighter. I’m looking forward to seeing these matches realised on December 1st and I’m sure the fans are too.”

(October 29th.12) BAMMA is proud to announce a Middleweight Mixed Martial Arts bout to headline the BAMMA 11 card at Birmingham’s National Indoor Arena on 1st December, as Jack Marshman faces Xavier Foupa-Pokam.

Fresh off a decision loss to Claudio Henrique da Silva at the weekend, Xavier Foupa-Pokam or “Professor X” hails from Paris in France with a record of 22-18-0; and is currently signed non-exclusively to Indian promotion, Super Fight League.  The 30 year old shot to recognition during his brief stint in the UFC, and through his long career in British MMA, with Cage Rage and later with BAMMA.  With the majority of his victories by Knock Out, Foupa-Pokam holds notable conquests over Alex Reid, Tom Watson and Pierre Guillet. He has also faced tough names that include Paul Daley, Ninja Rua and Alex Makhonin (at BAMMA 5); and brings a wealth of experience back into the BAMMA cage.

With the support of the British Forces behind him, the atmosphere when paratrooper Jack Marshman hits the cage is never short of electric. Marshman (11-1-0) made his mark at BAMMA 7 when he survived a Ground n Pound attack to flip fortune around and win the BAMMA-Lonsdale British Middleweight belt. Following an effective title defence against Barnes at BAMMA 8, Marshman went on to unsuccessfully challenge Tom ‘Kong’ Watson for the World title at BAMMA 9, gaining his first loss. Marshman returned at BAMMA 10 to once more defend his British title, this time against Andrew Punshon. However he forfeited the Lonsdale belt when he weighed in heavier than agreed, and the fight went ahead as a non-title bout.  Previously renowned for his exemplary striking and extraordinary resilience on the ground, Marshman surprised submission specialist, Punshon, with his ground game and submitted him with a Triangle Choke in the first round.

Jack Marshman said:

“I’m feeling really good and I’m excited about this fight, mainly as this is my first bout at international level and it’s a step up I’m ready for. I always like to think I’m  more well-rounded than people think, and I showed fans that I’m much more than a boxer in my last fight. I’m up against someone who is experienced and skilled in all areas, so I will definitely need to prove that I’m a rounded fighter as I’m coming for the win. I’m really looking forward to returning to Birmingham for a third time. Both my most exciting fights have been in Birmingham and I expect it to be as exciting this time both for me and the fans.”
